How it Started

Aging well was birthed out of my love of taking care of seniors. Ever since I was young I always loved to be around the older people in my life. I remember being a young child with playful cousins and laughter, but at the end of the day my heart was being at the table with my aunts, uncles, and grandparents. There was just something about the wisdom that they had that I wanted to learn from. In my younger years as soon as I started to work, my first job was a paper route, I always made sure to help my parents and send money to Mexico for my grandparents. Little did I know that my love for seniors would grow into a passion that I serve so joyfully with the seniors around me.

I have been in the financial industry since 2007 and a large part of my practice is making sure that the seniors are well taken care of. A large part of my business structure revolves around education, much of that is for the protection of seniors and the education for the resources that they need as they grow older.

Several years ago, I was the chaplain of the church that we attended and I realized the need for these resources more profoundly after realizing that nine out of 10 requests for the church were from seniors needing some type of a resource. Shortly after that the church asked me to hold a mini conference to help get the information out to the congregation in regards to senior resources. That has flourished into an Aging Well Symposium and Aging Well Educational Series.

For the last few years, sans COVID, I have been fortunate enough to put on the aging wall symposium. I have had the opportunity to have many senior industry professionals share their resources at the event as well as provide a full agenda of speakers who talk about the issues that arise as we get older. Much of these resources, actually are for the caregivers, family members who are put in a position to care for a loved one. These family caregivers carry the burden of helping their loved ones however they also need support. I hope that you find the resources on this site helpful. You’ll find local resource partners information as well as the events and educational seminars that we offer. You’ll have the opportunity to register directly on this site to attend our events. Soon you will also find videos and articles too!

About Luz

Luz Johnson founded the Aging Well Symposium after seeing the need to educate others about the significance of future planning.

As a financial advisor she meets with many people who lack long term care planning, and also realized that many of these same people had also experienced caring for loved ones.

She found that most people do not know how to plan for the challenges that come with caring for a loved one. In order to help, she chose to work relentlessly to bridge the gap by   connecting the community with the much needed senior care resources by offering this event as well as the Aging Well Educational Series throughout the year.
